Tested Watts exists for one reason: to tell you exactly what a portable power station can run, and for how long, before you spend $500 to $2,000 on one.
Spec sheets tell you the battery capacity. They don’t tell you whether your refrigerator will make it through the night, how many nights your CPAP will last during an outage, or how long solar panels really take to refill the battery. We answer those questions with transparent math, verified specifications and public data, and we add our own hands-on measurements as our testing program grows. Every number is labeled so you know which is which.
Who is behind Tested Watts
Tested Watts is written by Alejandro, MD, a physician based in Colombia. Medicine taught me two habits that shape this site: measure before you conclude, and never recommend something you wouldn’t trust with a patient. That matters most for readers who depend on powered medical devices, such as CPAP machines, during a power outage.
Colombia runs on the same 110–120 V, 60 Hz grid as the United States, so the hands-on tests we run use the same outlets, plugs and appliances that American readers use at home.
